We award 1 to 3 stars for coffee quality alone. We also highlight other awards for ambiance, pastries, hospitality, and more.

Our anonymous inspectors are professionals with deep experience in specialty coffee. Our team is backed by an advisory board of well-known leaders in the specialty coffee industry.

The Travel Stars are for coffee quality only. It is the highest award a café can earn in our rating system. Similar to Michelin, a café can earn up to three stars.

World-class coffee, a destination in itself
Excellent coffee, worth going out of your way for
Great coffee, worth seeking out
Not yet star-rated, but still noteworthy to visit

Inspectors can’t rate any café they have a connection to. Reviews are conducted over multiple visits, by multiple inspectors.
